Rain Gods
I started the dry season ritual of pumping water up the thirty-foot embankment of the canal and into my backyard this weekend. Before I could do this I had to dig a three-foot deep trench through dry and compacted shell to repair my pipe where #%&$*%@#$ Brighthouse cut it while extending cable to the house down the street. Dry, compacted shell is just a little more yielding than concrete so Saturday was pick-ax day. I could have used a troop of dwarven sappers and/or high explosives. While the ground put up one hell of a fight, I eventually won.

On Sunday I celebrated my victory by flooding the back yard to an average depth of five inches, I could hear my oak trees veritably singing with joy. I think the Rain Gods like to toy with me though because just like last year when I go to the work of setting up the pump it starts to rain. The rest of Brevard is dry as a bone but it rained over half an inch in our neighborhood last night. Go figure.

Lastly, where did the weekend go..? I want it back
